Description

We are on page 34 of Rav Kook's maimar Hador. We have discussed in the past a generational split between the old and new generations. The older generation believed that one can only be a G-D fearing Jew when he is sitting in the beis midrash. The younger generation were turned off by the way the older generation would teach Judaism and had a more idealistic approach at life. The problem was, that the idealism they related to was a flawed idealism. They looked at torah and mitzvot as an idea rather than reality. At the same time, the "learners" only learned sugyas and not penimius hatorah. Rav Kook's words were heard more by the younger generation. The ideal lifestyle that Rav Kook wanted was outside and physical yet spiritually elevated.
