Description

Pages 32-34 in Maimar Hador, Rav Kook discusses the idealism of the younger generation. This idealism which is very connected to the Toras Ha'Baal Shem Tov, is seeing the spirituality that lies behind the physicality and looking for the reality beneath all exteriors. Hashems greatness and good that he does for his children is endless. Above that, the goodness that each Jew has inside of himself is endless. Every Jew has to stop and think "What does Hashem want from me?" because without asking that, one is serving himself. Avodas Hashem is seeking for the truth of Hashem and his ratzon. The materialistic view is similar to that of the other nations which look for God to fit in what works for them.
