Description

In this shiur for Parshas Beshalach we will study was is the highlight of the Parsha and of the lofty songs of praise, namely Shiras haYam. Chazal see in this moment of Shira the moment at which the Malchus of HaShem was established and the Divine Thron was made permanent. We will study the insights of the 'Sam Derech', the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Chevron, as well as those of the 'Sifsei Chaim' into the special naure and significance of Shiras HaYam. Why did Moshe wait to Yam Suf to recite shira rather than singing at the moment of Yetzias Mitzrayim? Why didn't Chizkiyahu HaMelech become Mashiach. Why does the Midrash put so much emphasis on the word אז, the introductory word of the Shira? Why is the declaration "Hashem Malach" so central?
