Description

A careful reading of the verses in Shemot Chapter 16, the Chapter of the Manna, indicates that there were many objectives to the Manna. We will analyze these in this shiur and its follow-up. The success of this venture depends upon a dissection of the thesis of the Ramban to explain verse 12, a pasuk that would appear to be a repetition of what the Torah has already told us in the unit that comprises the first ten pesukim of this Chapter. The key word, says the Ramban, is the word Elokechem. We will search for the Ramban's definition of this Name of God in the story of creation. We will see that the Ramban maintains that although the manna was necessary in & of itself, it took on a new objective following the complaint of Bnei Yisrael.
