What is this fence that the Chachamim set up of leaving your wall up? Isn't the field supposed to be unlocked for the poor people to come? The Ramban redefines the Geder of the Sages to mean a modified withdrawal from the field in order so that it shouldn't be chaotic and dangerous (tikkun olam). Famous Chakirah:Does the man have to step away from his field because Shemittah says HE has to be removed from it, or is it because the field has this inyan of Shemittah that requires him to make it ownerless.
