Description

Delivered at Mayon Chai in preparation for Shavuos. Women received the Torah in their own unique way. Two feminine descriptions are used to describe the relationship between the Jewish people and Hashem: a caring wife and a loving bride. A wife is involved in many practical responsibilities, but she also craves a loving relationship. We have many detailed mitzvos, but we also enjoy a relationship of love with Hashem. We are happy to toil for Hashem, but we ask Hashem that we should feel His closeness. Men are steeped in the technical side of Torah. Woman constantly talk to Hashem, and build the aspirations and feelings in the house. The Vilna Gaon represents the Torah of the men, and the Ba’al Shem Tov represents the Torah of the women.
