Description

Shiur given at DRS High School for Boys in Woodmere. A Jew who wants the good stuff in Yiddishkeit will dig all the way to the bottom to get to it. There is no receiving the Torah without Yiras Shamayim (fear of G-d). In our generation the words "Yiras Shamayim" are unpleasant words. Yiras Shamayim is the holiest thing in world. Pachad (fear) is a disabling emotion and leaves us paralyzed. A small person spends a shallow life of pettiness. A "Yiras Shamayim" life is listening to the shamayim (heavenly) dimension in us without neglecting the earthly part. The Bas Melech (the soul) must be fed "shamayim" food- Torah and mitzvos. Only the Jewish People "took in" Hashem and never forgot Him.
