Description

There is a gezeirah (rabbinical enactment) against using hot water on the body on Shabbos. The poskim (halachic authorities) disagree whether the gezeirah extends to tovelling (immersing) in a mikveh. Some say that tovelling for too long is considered bathing and forbidden by all. The Mishnah Berurah permits tovelling in lukewarm water. Some hold that the gezeirah is only in regard to water heated on Shabbos through ma'aser adam (human agency). There is a dispute over the definition of lukewarm water. Some recommend to tovel only one time on Shabbos morning. The prohibition of squeezing water out of the hair. A wet towel is not muktzeh, but cannot be placed with specific intention to dry it.
