Please refer to the first shiur in this series for the source text. Rabba'hs approach in Maseches (Tractate) Gittin - when the debtor says: "Nevertheless… I want to pay." Rashi vs. the Rosh and the Ritvah. How is is possible that Rashi explains Rabbah to mean that the creditor can force the debtor to say he will pay "nevertheless...?" Is Shmitas K'safrim (forgiving debt) today a mere formality? A range of leniencies with regards to forgiving debt; how can we reconcile these with the Gmarah (Talmud)? Clarifying the connection between resting the land and forgiving debt. Do these two shmitas run concurrently?
