Description

Based on a Torah in the sefer Tallelei Chaim (Vayikra) by Rav Chaim Cohen (the Chelban) A person with strong, deep and healthy faith can never be a slave. Emunah, faith is the source of freedom, and just like the body needs sustenance, the neshamah (soul) breathes emunah. Slavery can take many different forms, it can be a barbed wire, a locked cell, or a concept or idea, such as the despearate need to fit in, at the expense of ones own integrity. The Nazis, like the Egyptians, excelled at breaking the Jewish spirit. If the enslavement is very strong, it becomes very hard to thirst for Hashem or have an appetite for spirituality. TBC on March 22.
