Description

This class is a continuation of a series about purifying ourselves through our body. The seven openings in our face correlate to the seven candles of the menorah. The openings in our face are gateways to the mind. At times we have to deliberate extensively before reaching a conclusion; other times a thought just flies into our head. In order to reap the benefits of a sudden inspiration, we have to purify all the openings in our face. We purify our mouth by abstaining from falsehood. We purify our nose with yiras shamayim (fear of heaven). We purify our ears by listening to our sages. We purify our eyes by turning away from impurity. We hold the fire to the menorah until the flame burns by itself. In the olden days, people were pure enough to reap holiness directly from heaven. The avos (forefathers) purified every part of their bodies.
