Description

What is the aveilus (mourning) of this time about? R' Yossi's mysterious conversation with Eliyahu Hanavi (prophet). The Jewish people experience exile after (within) exile. The concept of "lekichah" (taking), physcially and emotionally. A person is where his thoughts are, even halachically on Shabbos. Deeply and emotionally attached, and facing Yerushalayim while davening (praying). Dragging a Jew into gallus (exile), away from Yerushalayim, only applies to the body, never to the soul. When my 9 days are reduced to what heterim (permissions) I can find. As long as we were longing to return to Yerushalayim it was only one gallus. Now that Eretz Yisrael is a Jewish state, maybe we can mourn less - NOT so! What is it that's so great about saying: "Amen, yeheh shemeh rabbah..." (May His name be increased). The powerful effect of a neder (vow).
