Description

Each stone in the High Priest's breastplate represents a tribe. The color of each stone corresponds to the essence of its tribe. The nature of Leah's children relates to concealment. The nature of Rachel's children relates to revelation. Reuven is connected to sight. True sight is the clarity of seeing Hashem at all times. Constant recognition of G-d brightens the eyes and enlightens the heart. The red odem is the stone of the tribe of Reuven, expressing the simchah of seeing Hashem. The name Shimon is connected to hearing. Shimon's nature stems from the deepest depths of reality and is the opposite of his appearance. The pitada (green emerald) is Shimon's stone and its Hebrew name reflects his essence.
