When the kochos hanefesh are not expressed and warring with each other, it gives birth to anxiety and unrest. People feel like Yiddishkeit is like a script that has no relevance to them. Teenagers don't know why they have so much anger and no inner peace. The Judaism of Europe discouraged and disdained free inquiry, and focused on charada. This led to the young people disliking the 'galus Jew' who was weak and who was under the whim of the non-Jews. Rav Kook wanted Torah ideas to be presented in the language of the generation.
