The yetzer hara (evil inclination) tries to scare us by showing us that serving G-d only comes with a fierce battle. Our whole purpose in this world is to fight the milchemes Hashem (fighting for the sake of G-d). Our nature is to run from conflict. We rationalize our aveiros (sins). We only want to work on the things we are good in. Hashem wants our struggles. The hardest relationships are the constant ones.
