Description

P. 209. Hashkata means quieting speech and thought. The highest level to reach is thinking, then being quiet, then resuming thinking. Brilliant insights come from a place above the intellect. The word 'Chashmal' is made up of the two words chach - silence, and mal - speech. When the mind is working, it is trying to draw from the nekudas hapnimis (the inner point). Esav does not want this moment to be alive for us. Hashkata needs to be worked on slowly, starting with simple thoughts. Grasping something requires a lot of chazara (review).
