Description

P. 202. Quieting is the quieting of the retzonos (wantings). The goal is to be able to nullify our wanting at will. The root of atzlus (laziness) is the mistaken belief that I can't do it. To be sameach b'chelko (happy with what you have), you have to know that Hashem gave you all the kochos (powers) that you need. Jewish sinners are angry people. We should use a different language for our retzonos, to bring them from 'needs' to 'wants'. The graceful way to age to focus on the inner, not the external. Skipping the step of quieting retzonos will not bring success in this process. Coming to tefillah (prayer) requires being able to not speak and not think. The neshama (soul) is real.
