Description

P. 11. Chassidus tends not to focus on character flaws, rather on magnifying and drawing out the good "kochos" (capabilities) of our neshamos (souls). The body does not define who the person is - this is a point missed by many of the followers of the mussar (ethics) movement. The way to fight evil is with good, pointing out a person's godlinesss. All the things about a Jew we have never been taught! Understanding what it means to be a Jew, and how we are truly different from a gentile rather than merely not acting like one. Destructive divrei (teachings of) Torah, trying to convice a person that he is a truly low person. A Jew can, at times, "malfuntion," but he is not a low animal. The absolutely wrong way to teach a girl or young woman about tznius (modesty). Tznius is not a matter of how you dress, but how you look at yourself. Any time we do something good we feel good, because we are coming into contact with the essence of who we are. We don't necessarily have to second-guess our motives when we feel another's pain, though it may have nothing to do with us.
