Developing a connection with Hashem is done by constantly thinking and conversing with Him. We have to learn how to speak with Hashem. Our generation has a problem focusing on one thought for any length of time. Hashem gives us life each and every moment. The very ability that we have to approach Hashem in tefillah (prayer) is a gift from Hashem Himself. Reviewing a prayer begging Hashem for the ability to approach Him in humility. Begging Hashem for the words to speak with Him.
