Yetzer hara (evil inclination) very clever in convincing a Jew that he has no time to ask- where am I going in my life? Can be weighed down in learning or davening (praying) but don't think about Hashem. Better to do less, but with kavanah (awareness/intention) rather than more without kavanah. In the yeshiva of Kelm they made every 10th day a "mini" Yom Kippur but without fasting. Sefer Chareidim asks- How to achieve atonement today? Take one day a week and make it into tshuvah day as if it is Yom Kippur.
