Life is a garden-maze with plants arranged in walls between which are found many confusing and interlacing paths. Tzadikim see everything since they are standing on the platform in the midst of the maze. Ramchal: the basis of cheshbon haNefesh (personal accounting) is asking- what is my destination? No GPS machine can determine where we want to go. Are we moving closer or further away from Hashem? Any learning, davening, chesed (good deeds) is a means to an end of reaching Hashem.
