Description

Our feelings are rooted in our soul, but express themselves in our body. The soul has subtle, spiritual feelings and its nature is submissiveness, so it cannot be coarse, whereas the body’s feelings are not just material but coarse. Firstly we must refine our "worldly" desires, removing the veil of the body and exposing our soul, which can then pursue spiritual Torah-oriented pursuits. The Kotzker said that a person who lives truthfully doesn’t scream. He calls out with a “still, small voice.” It is possible to feel some real love for G-d at times, but it is much harder to feel some real fear of G-d.
