Description

Deveikus (attachment to Hashem) causes us to be fearful always that we are not acting properly before Hashem. The most basic level of Yirah (Awe) is fear of punishment which is very difficult to attain. The more attuned we are to our neshama (soul), the greater is our fear of punishment. Only the power of our mind protects us from harming ourselves. Our generation has a very weak faculty of imagination which prevents us from attaining fear of punishment.
