Fear of G-d is an unpopular topic today. Understanding yiras ha'onesh (fear of punishment) so that it becomes the basis of our coming closer to G-d. We should be afraid that we are not closer to Hashem. Working on yiras ha'onesh should help us to come closer to Hashem and not preoccupied with ourselves.
