Description

We will continue our analysis of the Halachik status of the leftover oil in the Ner Chanuka, and we will present four different opinions on this question. The main problem is the statement of the Sheiltot that 'huktza le'mitzvaso' generates and Issur Cheftza which continues endlessly even beyond the moment that the object lends itself to be used for a mitzva. Is this a unique Halacha in Chanuka? The indication to that position is the fact that muktza does not engender an Issur - for example in the case of the wood of the Sukka - beyond the termination of Sukkot. Why would the oil of Chanuka be prohibited even after Chanuka? Additionally, the Rif establishes that one can enjoy the oil after the half hour of Hadlaka.
