Description
Oros HaTorah, Perek 13, 8th piece. Rav Kook continues to encourage the Talmidei Chachamim (Torah scholars) of Eretz Yisrael to rise up from their excessive fear and to boldly lead the Jewish people. He says that if the leaders will be filled with ahavah (love) and shalom (peace) amongst themselves, then they will bring the same to the Jewish people. Now a piece from Rav Kook's commentary on the siddur, Olas Raya, specifically a piece on the Pesach Haggadah about Korech (the Hillel sandwich). Maror (bitter herb) is the power of slavery, while Matzah is the power of freedom. In the Korech, both of these powers come together as one, which reveals the freedom to choose to be an eved (servant) to Hashem. In the secular world, the highest level of freedom is when a person can do whatever they want to do whenever they want to do it. Matzah only finds its completion when combined with Maror.
