Description
Based on Rav Kook's Shmoneh Kabbatzim (p. 258). There is so much more good that could be in our lives. What are the kochos (strengths) of the neshamah (soul)? We must believe in ourselves, in our spiritual greatness and spirituality. We must not blame our environment for our failings, nor can we define lack of attention to halachic detail as the root cause for not feeling ruach Hashem. The greatness of the soul can blast through all environmental obstacles and our lack of following the mitzvos (commandments). We don't know how to ignite the neshamah within ourselves and are holding on to smallness (ochzim bekatnus). How is it possible that even in orthodox communities we have to protect our children from other Jews, from their teachers, their counselors, and sometimes even family members? As a result to reaching for gadlus hanefesh (the greatness of his soul) that a person can purify his surroundings and repair his actions. [Awesome quote] "Forty, fifty, or even sixty Pesachs, and not one foot out of Mitzrayim." The dikdukim (minute details) that wear us down.
