Description

Rav Kook's Ma'amar "Al pnimius haTorah." p. 322, piece 10. The whole throwing away of Yiddishkeit is rooted in the thoughts and emotions demanding to fulfill their roles in a person's life. Until you get to the pnimius (inner meaning) and root of a middah (character trait), it can be difficult to change it. A Jew can never let himself get depressed with the aveiros (sins) that he did. Sometimes when a person does teshuvah, they incorrectly think that they have to smash their past, but really all they have to do is access their inner light. A significant number of kids in school are tired of the Elokim d'katnus (the small consciousness of Hashem) and are yearning for the Elokim d'gadlus (the greater light of Hashem). The problems in Rav Kook's generation are the problems in our generation.
