Description

Perek 10, Piece 15. If a person only learns the revealed Torah, his learning will strengthen the aspect of din. The nature of nigleh (revealed) is to separate, divide; the nature of nistar (hidden) is to connect and combine. Where did sinas chinam (needless hatred) begin? On the outside we see differences, but on the inside, we see "Ani Hashem" (I am Hashem), and everything is one; the goal is to uncover the common denominator. We have the SAME neshamah (soul) after the sin as we had before the sin. It is the yetzer harah's (evil inclination) greatest victory when he can convince us that, post sin, we are no longer worthy to be in Hashem's presence. This doesn't mean we shouldn't do teshuvah, but we are not "finished and done." The perfect union of chessed and gevurah results in powerful ahavah. The only reason we get all excited and teary-eyed over different types of Jews (e.g., modern orthodox, chareidim, chassidim, sfardim) getting together for a particular cause is that we're missing the point: there shouldn't be any divisions to begin with! The beautiful brachah (blessing) of "sim shalom" (establish peace).
