Description

P. 59. Even when a person who learns pnimius (depths of) haTorah feels that he does not understand everything, he should continue, because there is a sense of faith connected to his neshamah (soul) which experiences tremendous joy. However, during the younger years of a person's life, he should absorb as much of the regular standard learning of the mesorah (traddition) as possible (i.e., Gemarah, Chumash, Rashi, Tosafos, meforshim, etc.). Rav Kook was worried about people just learning some pshat and then, right away, sisrei Torah (the deepest secrets of Torah). The problem here is that those students, by trying to skip to "desert" right away, do not fully engage their mind in nigleh (revealed) Torah, miss a sense of Elokus (G-dliness), and don't lift their seichel (mind) to a higher place. The great challenge for our generation is to encourage the questions: "why," and "how can I think about and connect to Hashem all day long?", "what is Shabbos?" and others. An ish pnimi (inner person) infects others with pnimius. It's not alwyas about lecturing or talking at someone, especially our children, but connecting with them, loving them, talking to them in a soft manner.
