P. 59. The mistaken way of judging success in our talmidim only by evaluating their ability in learning in nigleh (revealed Torah). Rav Kook exhorts us not to despair if we feel more drawn to pnimius (inner) of Torah; but we must have seder, order within our life and our learning. Also, if we are not so successful in our learning, again, "so what?" The task is to continue trying. And we can't worry about what other people think of our learning and what we learn. Where, in Yiddishkeit, is MY wealth - is it in learning, and what kind of learning, in middos (character traits)? The occasional arrogance of the wealthy person who forgot that it is Hashem who gave him everything. Sharpness of mind is wonderful, but it's not the sharpest person who is the greatest person; a truly humble person is a great person. Torah is for everyone, even for those who did not reach a great level of understanding. It's not enough to be attracted to the secrets of Torah without being humble about who he is and his true abilities in the revealed Torah.
