Description

Unlike other mitzvos, Shabbos is portrayed with human qualities. Failure to prepare for Shabbos properly is like failure of accommodating a dignitary befittingly. When we say “kadosh kadosh” (“holy holy”), G-d tells us how much He loves us. We are advised to inform the recipient of our gift, to let them know how much we like them. By honoring the Shabbos we are proclaiming our love to G-d. The Jewish nation is considered the partner of Shabbos and must therefore treat Shabbos like a kallah (bride).
