We can't understand what people go through unless our hearts have been in it as well. What is the meaning behind the Yid HaKodesh hearing the shofar (sound of the ram's horn) of Moshiach? Redemption needs to take place on all levels until it descends into the physical world. There will be a tremendous awakening for repentance before Moshiach comes. Before the last days of Moshiach, we are going to scream "I want to go home"- return to Hashem.
