Through davening (prayer) we can transform the bitter into sweet. Our physical needs should be connected to our avodas Hashem (service of G-d). Esav could have elevated the physicality that he was immersed in. A strong and powerful tefillah (prayer) creates a malach (angel). Hashem's choice of the Jewish people as His nation is from the realm of Keter (crown), the super-rational. Ratzon (desire, will) just is. When we daven, we can awaken Hashem's crown of rachamim (compassion). Every physical letter in the aleph-beis comes from an exalted spiritual source.
