Description

Bracha (blessing) is drawing down something that already exists. Tefillah (prayer) is the power of creating from what does not yet exist. Through tefillah, we can change reality. Our tefillah, called an awakening from below, can cause an awakening from above. The tefillah of mincha (afternoon prayer) is a rejection of being immersed in physical reality. The only reason we can daven (pray) is because the food we eat gives us energy. The sacrifices that were offered in the Holy Temple show that spirituality can come out of the physical.
