Description

A special ma'amar from Rav Avraham Tzvi Kluger, 'Kulei (Completely) Matzah', on Pesach. The main shibud (slavery) in Mitzrayim (Egypt) was not the physical slavery, but the spiritual slavery. The idolatry in Mitzrayim mostly centered around the Nile River that effortlessly irrigated the land, and allowed them to ignore Hashem. The Mitzrim (Egyptians) were the most advanced in witchcraft and sorcery and astrology, and asserted that they had control over creation and the powers of cause and effect. Chametz is the Chacham ('wise' one), who wants to have control over life. The Tam ('simple' one) is like matzah and stays the way it is - thin, with holes, and he wants to stay faithful to the way Hashem made him. Yetzias (leaving) Mitzrayim is the freedom to go with Hashem, emunah.
