Description

P. 139. The Chacham ('wise' one) has a negative, angry, cynical, jaded way of looking at everything and himself, all based on looking at the world only from the physical perspective. The Tam ('simple' one) sees the inner positivity of the world. The higher emes (truth) is the way of the Tam. The Chacham claims that he is more 'realistic' than the Tam, yet his life is dark and depressing. The Tam lives in the way of 'Ki Tov Hashem' - 'Hashem is good.' Though Avraham was a great philosopher, when it came serving Hashem, he acted with pure emunah. A person who holds himself as a great scholar could end up denying things that are actually true. The hardest thing is our generation is to hold on with emunah and not fall into 'chochmas'. Whatever Hashem said, is going to be.
