Description

P. 138. Continuing in the ma'amar Chacham v'Tam. The Tam lives in a way that is natural to him, and is not embarassed to be himself and express himself. The greatest shibud (slavery) is running after social acceptance. The Tam is not jealous of anyone, tries to learn from everybody, and is always happy for others. The middah (quality) of temimus (simplicity), of living flexibly according to Hashem's ratzon (will), can be seen in children and in tzaddikim. The Chacham does not allow himself to live according to his nature, but rather what is socially acceptable, and is thus living in atzvus (sadness) and pain. Sadness is a result of being far from oneself, which is also being far from Hashem. The nefesh Elokis (G-dly soul) wants simplicity. Shrewdness came about after eating from the Tree. The fool is burned and boiled from his shrewdness.
