Description

P. 135. Continuing in the ma'amar Chacham v'Tam. The trademark of the Tam is that he is always satisfied and happy with what he has, and he feels that what he has in life is good. The Chacham is always thinking about what other people are thinking about him. He also constantly compares himself to other people's levels. The Tam believes in the tov in all people, and knows that when he holds on to one thing, he holds on to the All. The Chacham focuses on what is wrong in everything, including himself. This all applies to Torah learning, food, clothing. The Tam is happy with less and connected to the etzem (essence) of what he has. The Chacham is always trying to impress others, while the Tam has his circle and does not need to impress others. Since the Chacham sees only the surface of things, he also assumes that others are shallow and doesn't trust them.
