Description

P. 109. A person should always engage in learning Torah and doing mitzvos even if their motives are not lishma (doing it for the sake of the mitzvah) on that day at that level. We can always do teshuvah on teshuvah that we have done in the past. A dedicated learner must constantly make sure that his learning is lishma, has the goal of dveykus (attachment) with Hashem. The Chassidim would traditionally be flexible with their learning. The Torah Sh'bichsav style of learning is the way of dveykus, while the Torah Sh'B'al Peh style of learning is the way of intellectual self-striving. The greater the tzaddikim become, the more simple and anav (humble) they become.
