Description

P. 71. Our goals in avodas (service of) Hashem must be attainable, but even more important, it's the effort that counts, not necessarily the result. Avodas Hashem is not a means to and end - it is the end in and of itself. When a person feels, even in an area of learning he enjoys, that he is a complete failure and that he cannot advance. The goal of learning Torah: I want to live in the four amos (cubits) of Hashem, in this moment, in this mitzvah - completely stripped of trying to figure out what the future holds and how I see myself "in five years." Locked into a declared life-path of learning, and completely miserable. The many different programs in learning and needs of this world which interfere with our ability to live the simple life of dveykus (attachment to Hashem). We ask Hashem to help us understand the life He wants us to live. The importance of adjusting to that set of circumstances Hashem has placed us in at this very moment.
