P. 39. The Ba'al Shem Tov's way is in the connection and integration of Chochma (wisdom) and Bina (understanding). Chochma is focused on the essence of existence, the big picture, and being. Bina helps us to be attentive to the details of halacha and doing. Chochma is the way of knowing that Hashem runs the world, and bina is the way of bechira (free will), where everything is up to my hishtadlus (effort). There is an or ganuz (hidden light) in every mitzvah. A chochma-consciousness person learns so that he can connect with Hashem's light. We want to make ourselves a kli (vessel) for the Torah, and not to block the Torah with our ego.
