Description

P. 26. The simple most important goal in learning Torah in general, and Chassidus in particular, is to attach oneself to Hashem (rather than merely desiring more knowledge).Revealing Hashem in the world and within myself. A brief tefilah (prayer) before learning [at 8:00 minute mark]. Intelligence vs. maskil (intellectual). A warm/cold mind, and a warm/cold heart - what is the right combination? Every Jew has the ability to help and save another Jew. Quality vs quantity of learning. What is important: effort or result? All of us want to feel a sense of accomplishment; in Chassidus, the meaning of "covering ground" is that my heart and my mind are moving forward - however long it takes to turn that one page. The effect of learning Chassidus on the neshamah (soul). When our kids see that even their Rebbis who talk about Kirvas Elokim (closeness to G-d) don't feel it. Lech-lechah - has the same letters as lichluch (filth) - attach yourself to Hashem, IN the filth of this world. The life-changing joy when we live what we learn, rather than just amassing knowledge.
