Touching the end of the golden scepter represents our ability to contemplate the 'tip' of Hashem's relationship with the world. The revelation of Hashem's light and life-giving force both fills and surrounds all worlds. Hisbonenus (contemplation) on the permeation of Hashem's light in all Creation leads us to love Him intensely. The danger of misunderstanding a Torah lecture, parallels our misunderstanding of G-d's presence in the world. Not understanding the Holocaust is not knowing the nature of Hashem's presence.
