Knesses Yisrael (the Jewish people) is called Esther – a name that hints to concealment. Every one of us has to go through concealment during our golus (exile). When our love of Hashem does not fill us, it is a makif (surrounding force) and is termed Esther. There are two avodas (forms of Divine service): touching the end of the scepter and holding the entire scepter. Every one of us has a hidden love of Hashem, contained as a nekudah be'heichalah (point in the sanctuary) of his heart.
