Description

Do dreams have a Halachik status? In this shiur and the next we will study the Poskim on the question of whether a person should learn and implement the messages and mandates he receives in a dream. There is a degree of ambivalence in Halacha regarding dreams. On the one hand Chazal call dreams "dvarim betailim" and declare: Einam Ma'alim Ve'lo Mridim, i.e. dreams should be disqualified. On the other hand in at least one Sugya a person is required to take his dream seriously and respond accordingly. Does a dream have any weight as evidence in establishing the truth? Can a halachk question be decided based on a dream? These and other issues will be addressed.
