We will study the Halachik issue of cruelty to animals, i.e., the Issur Tza'ar ba'alei chaim. Are we dealing with a DeOrait or only rabbinic in nature? Does one have to alleviate an animal of its suffering? Under what conditions in the Issur lifted for a 'tzorech'? What constitutes a Halachikally recognized & bonefide need to permit causing an animal suffering? Financial gain, removing discomfort? Scientific studies and animal experiments? These and other issues will be addressed in this shiur.
