We will compare & contrast the 'Al HaNisim' for Purim with that of Chanuka. Why did Chaza"l introduce into the מטבע of Al HaNIsim the extra line about the establishment of the days of Chanuka as days of להודות ולהלל? What is the difference between these two terms? In this Ma'amar the issue of why of all the special days on the Jewish calender only one holiday is - by its very essence - a day of HoDa'ah, and that is Chanuka? We will explore the concept of 'sha'at ha'shmad' which defines the nature of the religious persecution of the Yevanim, & derive conclusions about the nature of Chanuka from the prime model of 'shmad' which is the confrontation between the 'saro shel Esau' and Yaakov Avinu. 2 meanings to the word הודאה & their connection.
