Description

The tradition of Brisk operates with the fundamental distinction between Emunah and Yediah, faith and knowledge. The latter indicates the rational principles that every man should accept, postulates derived from rational analysis and philosophical arguments. Emuna, faith, on the other hand, represents the belief in principles that cannot be proven logically, and may even be antithetical to logical & rational thought. Avraham Avinu lays the foundation for the Emuna which is the basis for the hope and optimism of our people. In this shiur we will interpret a verse in Yeshayhu 51 which bids us never to forget the roots of our Nation in the miracle of the birth of Yitzchok to Avraham & Sarah.
