Description

In this shiur for Parshat Bereishis al pi Ramban, we wish to understand the nature of man as presented by the Torah in the two stories of the creation of man in Chapters I and II of the parsha. Where is man meant to be locted? In Chapter I man is called upon to settle the entire planet, 'Umiloo es HaAretz V'kivshuha'. By contrast, in Chapter II, man is entrusted with the responsibility to settle Gan Eiden and man's location is limited to that particular place. There are other differences between the two records of the creation of man as we shall see. Ultimately, man is a complex being and this duality reflects itself in two categorically different responsibilities. In this shiur we will study the hidden meaning of Korbanot.
